Mother’s Day Proclamation 2012

We are grandmothers and grandfathers, fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, sisters and brothers, grandsons and granddaughters, all children of mothers;
We are, as is our President, as are our legislators, our lawyers and judges, our oil and gas industry financiers, shareholders, CEO’s, scientists and workers, all children of earth;
We are biologies of water and oxygen;
We are dependent for our lives first, on clean air, clean water and a stable climate;
Without these essential staff of life we compromise our ability to sustain and reproduce thriving children, thriving communities and a thriving nation generation upon generation;
We can source our energy in renewables; the science and technology of renewable energy has been ours to choose these 100 years; we have no time left to lose, our lives and quality of life depend upon making this right choice now;
High volume, high pressure, slick-water hydraulic fracturing of shale rock and coal bed methane is first and foremost unnecessary; it is a national security threat to us all; it is a ‘bridge fuel’ to accelerated climate change not an enlightened, firm step away from it; it is an irrevocable, unmitigated, long term threat to our essential, diminishing, fresh surface and groundwater resources; there is no safe disposal of its radio-active and chemically poisoned waste products;
High volume, high pressure, slick-water hydraulic fracturing of shale rock and coal bed methane is a source of multiple, unmanageable, immediate, mid term, long term, and irrevocable harms to earths hydrological cycle, climate, seismic activity, fresh water, air, soil and food, therefore a violation of human life, health and well being, and to human communities and their reproduction;
We cannot stand by in silent witness of a clear violation of our inalienable human and civil rights, intended or not;
We therefore resolve in the interest of our national security, in the name of our mothers
On this Mothers Day 2012, to give to our mothers the greatest gift of all, the present and long term safety and well being of our children, our families and communities;
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.
